The City of Ottawa is working on two culvert replacements in Ward 5. The first replacement is on Deerwood Drive north of Panmure Road. Deerwood Drive will be closed at Panmure Road but all lanes of Panmure Road will remain open. Completion date is anticipated for late December 2014. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained to Deerwood Drive via Morningdove Drive.
The second culvert replacement is on John Shaw Road northwest of Kinburn Side Road. During the construction, John Shaw between Lillie Side Road and Galetta Side Road will be closed. A signed detour has been posted using Lillie Side Road to Homesteaders Road for emergency vehicle and local access. The expected completion date is mid-December 2014.
Need Help Clearing your Driveway this Winter?
The City’s Snow Go Program assists seniors and people with disabilities with snow clearning. The program is divided into two parts:
- Snow Go Program provides a matching service for seniors and people with disabilities looking to hire an individual or contractor to clear snow from private driveways and walkways. Residents who participate in this program are responsible for paying the individual or contractor removing the snow.
- Snow Go Assist Program provides financial assistance to eligible low-income seniors or persons with disabilities looking to hire an individual or contractor to clear snow from private driveways and walkways. Approved participants may be reimbursed for 50% of the cost of snow clearing per event, up to a seasonal maximum of $250. Rural applicants who have excessively high cost of snow removal, as defined by staff, are eligible up to 50% of the cost of snow clearing for their private driveways and walkways per event, up to a maximum of $450 per term.
