The New 18-month Waste Collection Calendar

The City has delivered its new 18-month waste collection calendar, and residents should have already received it in the mail. It contains important information regarding waste collection until the end of June 2016. If you haven’t received your calendar, please call 3-1-1 to request one. There is also a supply of calendars at my Ward Office, so feel free to stop in to pick one up.

Volunteer at Your Community Outdoor Rink this Winter

The City is now recruiting for outdoor rink operators and volunteers for the 2014-2015 season. There are several outdoor rinks in Ward 5 (and more than 250 city-wide). If you would like to volunteer to help keep the rinks operational, supervising, or assisting with winter activities and events, please contact the City of Ottawa Seasonal Recreation Office at 613-580-2590 or email seasonalrecreation@ottawa.ca.

Free Public Skating Thanks to RBC

The Royal Bank of Canada has once again brought free public skating weekends to the City of Ottawa each Saturday and Sunday until the end of March 2015. Public skating is free for participants during regularly scheduled public skating sessions at all 29 indoor arenas.

Christmas in Constance Bay

On Saturday, December 6, from 9am-11am, Constance & Buckham’s Community Association (CBBCA) is having their annual Breakfast with Santa. Also happening at the Community Centre is their Christmas One of a Kind Sale from 9am to 5pm. Also taking place is the CBBCA’s annual Santa Claus parade. Floats will gather on Baillie Ave and will start at 1pm. The parade will run along Bayview Drive to Len Purcell and will end at the Community Centre (262 Len Purcell Dr.). There will be a collection of non-perishable food items.

Carp Farmers’ Christmas Market

The Carp Farmers’ Christmas Market is happening Friday, December 5 from 3-8pm and Saturday, December 6 from 8am-2pm at the Carp Fairgrounds. With over 60 local vendors on hand, this is a great opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done while also supporting local business. The Market will be collecting non-perishable food for the West Carleton Food Bank.
