Ward 5 Town Hall - Budget 2016 Input & City Services Information Night
All residents of West Carleton-March are invited to attend my Ward 5 Town Hall. It is taking place as follows:
Tuesday, September 29
7pm to 9pm
West Carleton Community Complex
Roly Armitage Hall, 5670 Carp Rd.
Light refreshments will be served
Beginning at 7pm, there will be tables set up throughout the hall displaying information and handouts on some of the services provided by the City of Ottawa (Revenue, Parks & Recreation, Police, Public Health, Fire Services, Roads, Para Transpo, etc.). There will also be some community organizations on hand to provide information on their services to the Ward 5 community. This will allow residents an opportunity to stop by each table to ask questions of staff and dialogue directly with them.
At 8pm, Revenue Department staff and I will be doing a brief presentation to attendees on the City of Ottawa Budget for 2016. There will be opportunity for residents to provide their input and suggestions to Revenue staff for their consideration as they prepare the 2016 Draft Budget
To prepare for the Budget portion of my Town Hall, I encourage residents to review the “Understanding Your Budget” section on the city’s website (ottawa.ca/en/city-hall/budget-and-taxes/understanding-your-budget). It includes Budget 101 information as well as a Budget Primer video presentation by City Treasurer Marian Simulik. This is great information that provides a good understanding of how Ottawa spends and how the annual City Budget it put together.
My Town Hall is a great opportunity to learn about the important services the City provides to Ward 5 residents, and will also allow you to have your say on Budget 2016 before the draft document is prepared. Hope to see many of you there!
