Commemorative Naming Proposal: Doug Rivington Park

In recognition of Doug Rivington’s extensive community service, the City of Ottawa has been asked to name a new park at 701 Meadow Ridge Circle “Doug Rivington Park.” This new park will be built on land that has been in Doug’s family for three generations.

Doug Rivington was born and raised in Carp and has contributed to the community in many ways, including as chairman of the school board, as president of the Carp Agricultural Society and as warden at St James Church. He has provided gratuitous labour to the Carp splash pad and to making the Parish of Huntley Hall wheelchair accessible. He has also provided generous monetary support to the Carp Fair, the Huntley Curling Club, the West Carleton Community Complex, Huntley Centennial Public School, the West Carleton Library branch and local sports teams.

Comments on this proposal must be submitted by May 16 to Diane Blais, City Clerk and Solicitor Department, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Ave. W., Ottawa, ON K1P 1J1, tel: 613-580-2424, x28091, fax: 613-580-9609, e-mail:
