West Transitway Extension – Public information session

A public information meeting is being held by the City of Ottawa to update residents on the West Transitway Extension project. It is taking place on Monday, June 8 at Michele Heights Community Centre (2955 Michele Drive) from 6:30-8:30pm.

The City has developed a plan to extend the West Transitway from Bayshore Station to Moodie Drive.  Recently, as part of the detailed design, City staff identified the potential to reduce the current construction costs by revising the approach for the Transitway extension near Moodie Drive (occurring immediately north of the Highway 417 westbound lanes, from west of Holly Acres Road to Moodie Drive).

Residents will be able to review the proposed revisions to the implementation strategy, background reports and the proposed design plans, and ask questions. Representatives from the City and the consulting team will be available to discuss the project.

Construction is currently planned to begin in late 2015 and is estimated to be ready for use in late 2017.

As this extension will affect west-end commuters, including residents of West Carleton, I encourage residents to attend.

Constance Bay Library temporary closure

The Constance Bay library branch will be closed temporarily from Wednesday, June 10 to Friday, June 19 due to work being done on the Constance & Buckham’s Bay Community Centre expansion.
