Temporary road closures

In the coming few weeks, there will be some temporary road closures in Ward 5 as follows:

  • Weatherly Drive - August 24 to September 4: Weatherly Dr. from Maley Lane to Old Second Line Rd. will be closed for culvert work. A detour will be in place and local/emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
  • Riddell Drive - Sunday, August 30:  Approval has been granted to a local community group to close Riddell Dr. between March Valley Rd. and Sixth Line Rd., between Riddell Dr. and a point 500 metres west of Riddell Dr., to facilitate a community event. The closure may be in effect from 6am to noon.
  • Barlow Crescent - September 3 & 4:  Culvert replacement work is being done on Barlow Cres. between Vances Side Rd. and Thomas A. Dolan Pkwy. A detour will be in place and there will be access for local and emergency vehicles.
  • Donald B. Munro Drive - September 8 to 17: Culvert replacement work is being done on Donald B. Munro Dr. between Robertlee Dr. and March Rd. There will be a detour with local and emergency vehicle access maintained.

Tim Hortons Fall Cleaning the Capital

Early bird registration has started for the Tim Hortons Fall Cleaning the Capital campaign, which takes place from September 15 to October 15. Register your cleanup project before September 15 and you’ll have a chance to win an early bird prize! To register go to or call 3-1-1. This is a great way for you and neighbours to work together to keep Ottawa clean, green and litter-free. It's also an excellent way for high school students to earn their community volunteer hours.

West Carleton Garden Club

The West Carleton Garden Club is holding a special meeting featuring gardening expert Ed Lawrence, who will be speaking on proper pruning practices and techniques followed by a Q & A. Mr. Lawrence is featured on CBC Radio’s Ontario Today program, and is a retired Head Gardener for Rideau Hall and other Ottawa official residences. The meeting is September 8 at 7pm, Carp Agricultural Hall, 3790 Carp Rd. The cost is $5/members and $10/guests.
