Fundraising for Walker family

On June 24 the Walker family from Constance Bay lost their home and possessions in a house fire. Unfortunately, they did not have insurance. They are hoping to rebuild their home and return to Constance Bay. The family has let me know that they are very grateful for the incredible support of the local community and for the generosity of the donations they’ve received thus far.

The Walkers’ extended family and friends are hoping to host a fundraising BBQ in the coming weeks. Andrew, Tammie and their teenage daughter will attend the BBQ to personally thank all of those who have been so generous.

In the interim, there are many immediate and longer-term items the family needs in order to start rebuilding and they are listed below. (At the time of the publishing deadline for this column, a donation drop off location wasn’t confirmed. Check my social media and website - information will be posted there.)

Free dental services

On Saturday, July 9 Carp Family Dentistry (3771 Carp Rd.) is hosting their annual CFD Cares Day in which free dental services are provided to anyone who cannot afford dental care. It runs from 8am-4pm with registration at 7:30am. Patients can choose an extraction, cleaning or basic filling. Patients will be seen on a first come, first serve basis. Patients may be asked to wait outside – bring a chair, snacks and water.
