Ward 5 Town Hall Reminder

As noted in my column last week, residents are invited to my Town Hall on Tuesday, September 28 at the Kinburn Community Centre (3045 Kinburn Side Rd). At 6pm, residents can visit various tables displaying information on important services provided by the City of Ottawa. At 7:15pm the City’s Deputy City Treasurer and I will do a brief presentation on the City of Ottawa’s Budget 2017 timeline. We are looking for constructive feedback and suggestions from residents that can be used in the drafting of the 2017 Budget, before it’s tabled at Council on November 9. Light refreshments will be served.

Fridays are my ward days

I would like to remind residents that most Fridays I spend at my ward office in Kinburn meeting with residents and making site visits throughout the ward. If you would like a face-to-face meeting with me, Fridays are a great time to set something up. Please give my ward office a call to schedule a time, 613-580-2424 x32272. Walk-ins on Fridays are also welcome – but please note that I may be busy with a scheduled appointment, but my ward staff will be happy to assist if I’m occupied with another resident.

Public consultation on two news parks in Ward 5

Two Ward 5 parks have been earmarked to receive upgrades, and the City is now seeking public feedback:

  • Dunrobin Park, 1151 Thomas A Dolan Parkway:  Located at the Dunrobin Community Centre, the upgrades will feature two play structure components that offer inclusive play opportunities including a revolution spinner and teeter totter, and an accessible stone dust pathway that leads from the Community Centre to the playground. The protective surfacing for the new play area will be engineered wood fibre.
  • Marathon Park, 210 Linda Loop: The improvement will be a 16’ square park shelter on a concrete pad located off the existing stone dust pathway adjacent the swing set.

The proposed completion date is summer 2017. Feedback on the proposed upgrades should be sent to Donna Williams, Park Planner, City of Ottawa,, 613-580-2424 x23169. PDFs of the concept plans can be viewed via (on the home page under the “Latest News” section).
