Constance Bay Community Market – Final Market of the season!

The Constance Bay Community Market’s inaugural season wraps up on Saturday, October 1. Stop by from 9am to noon at St. Gabriel’s Parish, 205 Bayview Drive. The offerings are plenty: fresh produce, meats, fresh roasted coffee beans, arts, crafts, and more! Please bring a non-perishable food donation too as there will be a collection for West Carleton Food Access Centre. For more information visit marketinthebay.com. Thank you to all of the volunteers who worked very hard in making the first season a successful one. A job well done!

Green Acres Program

The City of Ottawa, in partnership with local Conservation Authorities, needs the help of rural landowners to help create more thriving green woodlands in rural areas. If you own a minimum of 0.4 hectares of suitable, idle land and meet the program criteria, the Green Acres Program will provide you with subsidized tree seedlings, advice/assistance in setting up a proper planting plan and help with caring for the trees after they are planted. Landowners are being sought now for the 2017 planting season. For more information call the Land Owner Resource Centre at 613-692-3571.

Fall Cleaning the Capital Campaign

The annual Tim Hortons Fall Cleaning the Capital Campaign is underway and I encourage individuals and groups register a clean up location. The campaign runs until October 15 and there are many locations in Ward 5 that need some attention! This is an excellent opportunity for high school students to earn their community volunteer hours. If you are participating and would like me to help with your clean up, please email me at eli.el-chantiry@ottawa.ca or call 613-580-2475. I’d be happy to participate!

Budget 2017

Last week I held a Town Hall meeting where Budget 2017 was discussed. If you were unable to attend, you can still provide feedback, which can be used in the drafting of the 2017 Budget before it’s tabled at Council on November 9:

  • Email budget@ottawa.ca
  • Participate in the online consultation at ottawa.citizenbudget.com
  • Tweet @ottawacity using the hash tag #ottbudget
  • Call 3-1-1
  • Make a presentation to Standing Committees, Boards and Commissions when they meet to review the draft budget (go to the eAgenda on ottawa.ca for meeting times/locations)

The budget goes to Council for final approval on December 14, 2016.
