Galetta Annual Cookie Exchange – Mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 4 for Galetta’s annual cookie exchange happening at 6:30pm at Galetta Community Hall. Bring 50 cookies and/or 50 squares to share and go home with many different treats to make your season brighter. Wear your best Christmas gear too! There will be judges and prizes. (Don’t forget to bring a container to collect your treats).

Community needs assessment for ages 65+ – The Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre (WOCRC) invites you to participate in a focus group consultation for older adults (65+) on Friday, December 7 from 11:30am-1:30pm at Heart & Soul, 2741 Dunrobin Rd. WOCRC is conducting a community needs assessment that will be focused on older adults (65+) from West Carleton to understand the common needs related to the storm. In an effort to ensure everyone can participate, WOCRC has support in place to offer transportation. Refreshments and a light lunch will be available. Huntley Christmas Parade – Santa is coming to Carp on Saturday, December 8 for the annual Huntley Christmas parade. Huntley Community Association is hosting their 10th Annual Christmas Parade, which will start at noon. The parade route this year will be the opposite from last year’s route (the route will be going all the way down Carp Rd. first). The route will start at the Diefenbunker and will follow Carp Rd., turning left onto Donald B. Munro, then left onto Langstaff Dr., then left onto Juanita Ave., and then right onto Carp Rd., finishing at the Diefenbunker.

Christmas craft tornado relief fundraiser – St. Isidore Catholic School (1105 March Rd.) is holding a Christmas craft tornado relief fundraiser on Saturday, December 8, 10am to 3pm. Lots of vendors, raffle draws and a kids’ corner. Admission is $2 or a non-perishable food item for the Kanata Food Cupboard.

Goulbourn Male Chorus – On December 8 at 7pm, attend the Trinity Presbyterian Church at 1817 Richardson Side Rd., as the Goulbourn Male Chorus presents ‘Christmas Tied with Strings’ with special guests The Interlude Piano Trio and Soprano, Skye MacDiarmid. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at

Mayor's Christmas Party – The Mayor's 18th Annual Christmas Celebration is happening on Saturday, December 8 from 2-6pm at the Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. Celebrate the season in the outdoors on Marion Dewar Plaza by roasting marshmallows and singing Christmas songs around a campfire. Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Ice skate on the Sens Rink of Dreams. Take a horse-drawn wagon ride on the downtown streets. Indulge in delicious Beaver Tails. There will also be live music. The fun continues inside in Jean Pigott Place where you can enjoy hot chocolate, assorted juices, cookies, and fresh fruit. To help those in need and to share in the spirit of the holiday season, admission to this sponsored event is a non-perishable food donation to the Ottawa Food Bank.

Galetta Community Christmas Potluck – On Wednesday December 12, at 6pm everyone is welcome to attend the Galetta Community Hall for a Community Christmas Potluck. Food and monetary donations at the door to West Carleton Food Access. This event is sponsored by Galetta Recreation and Lorne Sutherland Women's Institute.
