Temporary Road closure - Loggers Way
Loggers Way, from Kinburn Side Road to Donald B. Munro Drive will be closed from Tuesday, July 3 to Tuesday, July 10, for storm sewer and road reconstruction work. Notification signs will be posted and there will be a signed detour in place. Local and emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
Fitzroy Concerts in the Park
As a reminder, Concerts in the Park starts for another season at Fitzroy Provincial Park. Concerts will take place every Thursday evening in July. This year's musical lineup features Sidewinder (July 5), Heartbeats (July 12), Eddie & The Stingrays (July 19) and Ambush (July 26).
Every week, festivities begin at 6pm with a cash BBQ available courtesy of local youth groups. Concerts begin at 7pm. Attendees are reminded to bring lawn chairs and bug spray. All funds raised will go towards local youth initiatives. Donations will also be collected for CHEO.
Fitzroy Harbour Days
Fitzroy Harbour Days is taking place July 5 through 7. The two-day event is jammed packed with events for all ages. The event poster is noted under the “Ward Events” section of my website (eliel-chantiry.ca).
Drop In Pickleball
The Constance & Buckham’s Bay Community Association hosts drop in Pickleball every Monday and Friday at 6:30pm, and Wednesdays at 10:30am. It’s a toonie a session. Paddles and everything else needed to play is provided. Just stop by the Community Centre, at 262 Len Purcell Drive, and see why Pickleball is the fastest growing sport. (CBBCA membership is required and be obtained at the site for $10.). For more information go to www.cbbca.ca.
St. Mary’s – Berry Social
St. Mary’s Anglican Church is hosting a Berry Social on Wednesday, July 11, from 5:30-7:30pm, 2574 6th Line Road in Dunrobin. They will be serving up cake with berries and whipped cream and hot dogs. Adults $8, children $4 and families $20.
Used book donations requested
The West Carleton Food Access Centre is ramping up for their Used Book Sale in September and they are now looking for donations of used books. Donations of books will be accepted until August 10. They are looking for DVDs, CDs and gently used books such as fiction, children, cookbooks, gardening, westerns, war, etc. No encyclopedias or textbooks are needed. Donations can be brought to their warehouse at 3075 Carp Rd., or my ward office at Kinburn Client Service Centre, 5670 Carp Rd. You can also call 613-913-4234 and leave a message to arrange for a pick up.
The book sale will be happening Friday, September 7 (noon to 7pm) and Saturday, September 8 (8am-2pm) at the Carp Agricultural Hall, 3790 Carp Rd.
Camp Awesome is a Christian Day Camp for children ages 4-12 and is sponsored by the United, Anglican and Roman Catholic churches of Fitzroy Harbour, Constance Bay and Woodlawn.
