Kinburn Community Garage Sale & BBQ

On Saturday, June 23, from 8am-1pm, there is a huge community garage sale and BBQ taking place at the Kinburn Community Centre, 3045 Kinburn Side Road. There will be kids clothes, toys, sports equipment, housewares, furniture, handmade soap, home baked goods, candy and loads of other treasures. This event is hosted by the 1st West Carleton & Arnprior Scout groups to support International Youth Travel to the Haarlem Jamborette in the Netherlands. Anyone wishing to sell treasures or crafts can reserve a table by contacting Jenn Maranta at or 613-899-2486. The cost is $10 per table.

Herb Fest

The Carp Farmers' Market is hosting their annual Herb Festival on Saturday, June 23 from 8am to 3pm at the Carp Fairgrounds. On hand at the Festival will be fresh herbs, tea tasking, ask the herbalist table, herb featured baked goods, herbal body car products, growing herbs and much more.

CARPe Diem fundraising event in support of Epilepsy advancement & research

On Saturday, June 23, there is a fun evening planned of dinner and dancing in support of Epilepsy advancement and researched. The CARPe Diem Seize the Day event is taking place at the Carp Agricultural Hall, 3790 Carp Rd, from 6pm to midnight. Story Time in Constance Bay

Every Wednesday from 10am to 11:30am the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre is hosting Story Time at the Northwind Wireless Fibe Centre, 262 Len Purcell Drive in Constance Bay. Books will come to life with songs, puppets and exciting twists. Be transported into a new adventure every week. Snack time (bring your own) and crafts follow story time. Please note this activity is offered in English and French and is ideally suited for children 2-6 years old (siblings are welcome).

Rural Root Theatre auditions

Rural Root Theatre is holding auditions for their Fall musical "Leader of the Pack.” Auditions are taking place June 20 and June 24, at 7pm at the CBBCA (262 Len Purcell Drive in Constance Bay). There are several roles that need to be filled. Please check for all the details.

The new Ottawa Central Library

At the June 13th City Council meeting, City Council approved the implementation plan for building the new Central Library. The City will build the library as a joint facility with Library and Archives Canada at 557 Wellington Street, opening in 2024. The design process will start in early 2019 and will include public consultations on the design and function of the library. The City will contribute $104.2 million to the $174.8-million facility, along with the entire cost for an $18.1-million parking garage. The 200-space, underground garage will be cost-neutral, based on estimated revenue.
